This training course is a pre-requisite course for Low Voltage Rescue (UETDRMP007). It is about working safely near live electrical equipment if you're not a qualified electrician. It uses information from the NSW Work Health and Safety Act No.10 2011, NSW Work Health and Safety Regulations 2017, and advice from several electricity supply organizations. The course covers topics like understand electricity generation and supply, staying safe near overhead and underground power lines, managing safety risks at work, and following Australian standards. It's designed to help industry professionals work safely near the electrical distribution network to allow workers to perform tasks at homes, businesses, and industrial sites.

Course Objectives
- Understanding Electricity and Electrical Hazards: Know how electricity is generated and distributed. Identify hazards like exposed wiring and overhead power lines and recognize risks such as electric shock and arc flash incidents.
- Safe Approach Distances: Guidelines for maintaining safe distances from live components, using insulated tools, and implementing barriers and warning signs.
- Regulatory Compliance: Overview of safety regulations to ensure a compliant and safe working environment, highlighting the legal implications of non-compliance.
- Safety Procedures and Best Practices: Implement lockout/tagout procedures, use personal protective equipment (PPE), and establish safety measures like signs and barriers.
- Emergency Response: Procedures for handling electrical emergencies, including de-energizing equipment, first aid for injuries, and coordination with emergency services.
Assessment
Participants will be assessed via a questionnaire and practical demonstration of skills. Participants with literacy/numeracy difficulties or physical conditions should speak with the Trainer to discuss alternative assessment approaches.
Qualification
On successful completion, each participant will be issued with a Statement of Attainment.
Frequency of Training
Public Sessions are held monthly at 37 Crescent Road Waratah NSW 2298.
Private sessions can be held for groups of 6 or more.
